Training To Fight In the Dark

Andy

Night Fighters 2024 was a hit! We had a blast practicing in the wintery darkness with everyone. It was a great time, especially to put your kit through the test.

We had 4 stages set up, designed to test practical, real-world defensive shooting skills. The low light, and wintery conditions, added a degree of realism few train with.

Stage 1 (Can You Count) featured use of the support hand only, along with fine motor skills and organization with limited light.

Stage 2 (Santa's a Gangsta) was a physical stage that required rifle and pistol skills, while retrieving small toys from a sack and bringing elsewhere.

Stage 3 (Rooftop Hijinx) focused on positional rifle shooting and reloads at the farthest distance of the night (100 yards). Shooters engaged from elevated positions, a roof top, and a barricade which limited usage of NODS and lights.

Stage 4 (Angry Elves) was mostly a pistol stage where shooters entered a doorway and had to navigate a variety of no-shoot targets in a low position.

Everyone learned a ton and had fun, despite the wintery mix. We're bringing this back in 2025 again, so keep your eyes peeled for our upcoming class schedule!
