On 9/18, Rapid Defense held a Pistol Mounted Optics class to help students become proficient in using red dot sights on their defensive handgun.
Red dot optics on pistols are becoming increasingly popular and for good reason. Recent studies are showing that they make a shooter more efficient, while dispelling the myths of shoddy reliability. They no doubt make shooters better.
However, training is still a very large part of using a red dot optic and is required to use them effectively, like any new addition to your firearms.
Students in the class learned the fundamentals of using a red dot, how to draw and present correctly, and even how to use their gun in the event of a failure. Did you know you can use a red dot even if the front glass is completely obscured?
